Type specimen: King's collector 4480 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024757, E00288499)

Epithet: Named for Sir George Watt.
Distribution: Bhutan, N Myanmar (Burma), SE Tibet (Xizang), Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh.

First collected in Sikkim, this species is distinguished by the violet flowers with cut lobes and calyx and with a farinose eye. The scape is glabrous and efarinose and the leaves are hairy on both sides and efarinose. Images below are all from Arunachal Pradesh.
