Found growing on the walls and ground near the entrance of karst caves at a low altitude of 385-487m, at Shimen Village, Xinning, Hunan. Determined by molecular phylogenetic analyses to be a distinct species in Section Ranunculoides, sister species to P. hubeiensis. Similar to P. cicutariifolia in flower morphology but distinguished by being densely covered in glandular hairs (vs. without hairs) and cotyledon leaves triangular obovate (vs. ovate). This species has 1-8 scapes per plant, each with a single umbel of usually 3 homostylous, pink flowers with corolla lobes emarginate.
