Type specimen: Wollaston 181, 189 resides at Kew (specimens K000750421, K000750422).
Epithet: Named for A.F.R. Wollaston.
Distribution: Nepal, Tibet (Xizang).
P. wollastonii has creeping rhizomes, leaves covered in hairs and usually white farinous below. The flowers are purple-blue, bell shaped, with entire lobes and white farinous within. Varies in the amount of farina and the size and color of the flowers. Distinguished from related species P. sandemaniana and P. wattii by the shape of the flowers and and the entire lobes.
