A newly described species similar to and compared with P. lithophila which grows in the same area (sometimes side-by-side) and P. cavaleriei. It differs from P. lithophila by having a globose, not cylindrical capsule and by smaller flowers with a calyx split almost to the base. It differs from P. cavaleriei by the calyx and shorter petioles. P. persimilis, another recently described species belonging to Section Monocarpicae, also grows in the same area but it is quite distinct from P. scopulicola. The description includes a drawing made from the type specimen. An efarinose species, leaves suborbicular, cordate base, with a distinct, hairy petiole, a few hairs above and along the nerves below. Scapes to 19cm, with usually 2 umbels of pinkish purple exannulate flowers, with a broadly campanulate calyx, pilose on the outside and split near to the base.
