In 2015, a neotypification was made because the original herbarium material in the Berlin herbarium was destroyed. The original description of this species included a drawing on Page 140 which is part of the original material of the species and available for selection as a lectotype, so that a neotype is not necessary. (International Code of Nomenclature 9.3, 9.4).
A pilose, glandular species, leaves ovate to ovate-oblong, pinnatisected with 3-4 pairs of pinnae to the midvein, pinnae margin coarsely pinnatifid to dentate, with a distinct petiole. Scapes 7-15cm with 1 umbel ( occasionally a small second umbel) of 3-8 purple flowers. Thought to be extinct until rediscovered in 2006, but critically endangered.
