This species is endemic to Nepal and grows at high elevations up to 5700m. It is similar to P. reidii, but is distinguished from it by the larger exannulate corolla. May also be confused with white forms of P. wollastonii but that species has a bell-shaped corolla with entire lobes. Transitional forms may occur between these species. P. wigramiana has oblanceolate to ovate leaves, rounded at the apex, narrowed to a winged petiole, soft multicellular hairs above and below. Scape to 25cm, farinose at apex, with a compact head of 6-7 pendent white, exannulate, widely funnel shaped flowers with lobes distinctly toothed (but sometimes subentire). Calyx often unevenly developed, divided to 1/3 or to the base, farinose within and lobes incised by 2-5 prominent teeth.
